An update has been issued by AstleyBakerDavies regarding The Big Knights progress.

Some interesting good news is the DVD is to contain ‘behind-the-scenes’ footage of the studio in 1999, that should be a nice little extra, although I think I speak for most TBK fans when I say we’re still happy that the episodes are being released.

I was told the studio was shutting down for three months early this year so I’ll try to clarify that and post an update soon.

TheBigKnights.net exclusive update

Following on from the October update from ABD, we have an exclusive update regarding the progress of the DVD and remastering.

Talks are ongoing with distributors to thrash out the distribution deal, ABD have been very busy recently getting their final deliveries of Peppa Pig and Ben & Holly’s Little Kingdom out in time for Christmas that there has been little time to chase the matter.

Some of the ABD team took a trip to Cannes a couple of months ago (as reported here) and they are still waiting for feedback from their trip. It is hoped that some broadcasters will be interested in re-broadcasting The Big Knights which would help towards paying for the DVD production. It would also be good news for some of you abroad, being able to catch re-runs of The Big Knights on TV.

It looks like we will be waiting a little longer for more concrete news on The Big Knights as Christmas is coming up and ABD will be closing the studio down for the 3 months following. The next Cannes event is in April shortly after the studio re-opens, which will most likely be the next milepost.

Rest assured ABD are taking this seriously and are commited to getting The Big Knights out there again. There was an apology to fans posted on the official ABD website last month and we are pleased to share a personal apology given to the fans through us:

AstleyBakerDavies have published an update on their current workload, the interesting news is that the episodes will be available on Blu-ray, DVD and iTunes.

Hopefully we’ll have some exclusive news for you in the coming weeks.

October 2009 As anyone following the progress of The Big Knights Special Edition will be aware, the whole process is taking a long, long time... The pressures of other projects in the studio has made it hard to fit in the transfer of the re-mastered episodes to tape. But it really is happening – and has been scheduled to take place at the same time as our next delivery of Little Kingdom episodes, in the next few weeks. When they finally are available to buy they will indeed be on BlueRay, DVD and iTunes. Huge apologies to those interested for the time this process is taking!

We seem to be getting a lot of questions asking whether there is going to be a blu-ray version of the DVD or ‘why isn’t there going to be a blu-ray version?’

Well, all the information we have so far suggests there WILL be a blu-ray version! Including this update from ABD in July:

The Big Knights Special Edition will be released on DVD and in high definition BlueRay

So barring any further developments, there WILL be a blu-ray version!

TheBigKnights.net exclusive update

There’s nothing major to report at this stage regarding the remastered Big Knights DVD, ABD are still in the process of thrashing out a deal with a distributor.

There have been some delays as talks with the initial distributor broke down but the good news is that they are now scrutinising a proposal with another distributor.

In other news, the remastered episodes will be travelling to Cannes in a couple of weeks ‘to see how the land lies internationally’!

The work that has been waiting to be done to the site’s styling has been completed now so hopefully everything is in its correct place and is looking lovely!

We’ve also made some minor changes to the way the news is laid out to make it a little easier to read and easier to differentiate between posts.
